Back in early 1999, I got into the hobby of scale car modeling. It had always interested me, and after a particular unpleasant week in 1999, I bought a 1/24 Tamiya Nissan R33 Calsonic GT-R kit and some paint and got to work. It wasn’t an easy kit to start with since it was a race car, it had numerous large decals to apply. Nonetheless, I stuck through it and finished it. It wasn’t great, but I liked it and enjoyed the building process.
Fast forward to 2004, and I had completed about 20 cars and had another 20 bought ready to build. However, life happened and my model building had to go on hiatus indefinitely. Over the years, I tried to get back into the hobby, but was never successful as one thing or another got in the way. 2017 will be the year I return to the hobby and complete a car. It might be slow progress, but it will get done.
The kit I have selected for my return is a 1/24 Tamiya Honda NSX, the new one for 2017. I am a Honda guy; I haven’t owned anything else. I have always like the NSX. It was so different than anything else when it came out in the early 1990’s. When Honda said it was bringing the NSX back after being gone for so many years, it was good news. Living near Honda’s US headquarters in Torrance, CA, I got to see several new NSX’s on the roads here before they were officially released. I thought it looked great. And when Tamiya announced they were going to make a 1/24 scale kit of it, I knew I had to have it. It sat on my shelf for a few months while I decided if I was really up for building it. Well, now I am. Be on the lookout for this build in the coming weeks and months.
